Open enrollment benefits fairs set

The annual MSU benefits open enrollment for the 2008-09 benefits plan year is under way and will run through Monday, May 12.

This is the period each year during which eligible employees can review and re-evaluate benefits selections and make changes, such as switching health plans, adding or removing dependents, or changing life insurance options.

A new life insurance vendor has been selected this year so it’s especially important to review life insurance options.

MSU Human Resources has scheduled three Benefits Fairs. Vendor representatives and Human Resources staff members will be on hand to answer questions. The fairs will be held:

• Tuesday, April 29: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Spartan Rooms B and C, International Center.

• Wednesday, April 30: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Parlors B and C, MSU Union.

• Thursday, May 1: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the first floor of the Nisbet Building.

The May 1 event will feature the Blues Cruiser from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan in the Nisbet Building parking lot from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will offer information and chair massages. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., free health screenings also will be offered aboard the Blues Cruiser, including tests for body mass index, glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure.

Until May 12, faculty, staff and retirees may participate in online open enrollment by visiting www.hr.msu.edu and logging in to the eHR system with their MSU Net ID and password. From the eHR menu, select “Benefits Enrollments and Information” and then “Benefits Enrollment/Changes” and follow the open enrollment prompts.

Open enrollment questions may be directed to benefitsinfo@hr.msu.edu, (517) 353-4434 or (800) 353-4434.
