Upgrades of existing heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems will provide required capacity to operate research fume hoods and meet current safety codes. Schedule: through October 2004. 2. Campus steam tunnel installation (PP-E). Installation of tunnel, steam and condensate piping to replace deteriorated direct buried service to Farrall Hall. Schedule: through September. 3. Farm Lane improvements (CPP). Farm Lane will be completely rebuilt from the Red Cedar River bridge to Anthony Hall. Shaw Lane traffic patterns will be altered and announced in advance. See www.cpp.msu.edu/construction/2003/detours/ for detour map. Schedule: May 5 through July 1. 4. Engineering Research Complex construction (PP-E). Construction of an addition to the existing Engineering Research Complex will house a 900MHz nuclear magnetic resonance machine as part of the Structural Biology initiative for the Life Sciences Corridor. Schedule: through July 2004. 5. Regional chilled water plant construction (PP-E). Replacement of two deteriorated chillers and cooling towers will increase capacity to serve a number of buildings in the southeast area of campus. Schedule: through September. 6. Service Road improvements (CPP). Service Road, from Bogue Street to the MRI entrance will be resurfaced. Traffic patterns will be altered and announced in advance. Composting facility construction at College and Bennett roads (not shown on map, see the Web for exact location) (PP-E). Schedule: through September. 8. Diagnostic Center for Population and Animal Health construction at Forest and Beaumont roads (not shown on map, see the Web for exact location) (PP-E). A 152,960-square-foot diagnostic and research facility with Biological Level 3 containment capabilities is being constructed. Formerly known as the Animal Health Diagnostic Laboratory, this facility will house the state's major diagnostic and research animal disease laboratory. Schedule: through Feb. 2004. 9. Fiber optic backbone installation (PP-E). Installation of fiber optic cable across campus continues with this phase providing cable to buildings in Spartan Village and the Faculty Apartments. Schedule: through Jan. 2004. 10. Kellogg Center renovations (PP-E). Guestroom bathrooms will be renovated. Schedule: summer 2003 through January 2006. 11. Parking Lot 65 (Brody Complex) renovation (CPP). This renovation to the north and northeast sections of the Brody Complex lot completes the renovation. Schedule: May 5 through June 10. 12. Campus steam tunnel (PP-E). Installation of a tunnel and vault will replace deteriorated infrastructure and increase capacity. Schedule: through the end of May. | |||||||||||
