Prepare for summer road closures

If your trip to or from campus every day includes either Farm Lane or Service Road, you’ll want to make sure you plan alternate routes before those main thoroughfares shut down for construction on May 5.

Both roads will undergo major renovations during the construction season this year.

Farm Lane Road between the Red Cedar bridge and Anthony Hall will be completely rebuilt to take advantage of Michigan Department of Transportation funds to help cover project expenses.

Because of the extensive nature of the repairs, traffic patterns on Shaw Lane also will be affected.

The Division of Campus Park and Planning (CPP) suggests using Red Cedar Road and Bogue Street for alternate north and south travel and Wilson Road for travel east and west.

Farm Lane is expected to be closed from May 5 through July 1.

Service Road from Bogue Street to the MSU Radiology Building will be resurfaced, closing the road from May 5 through the middle of August.

CPP suggests that motorists use Mount Hope Road as an alternate route for east and west travel during the closure.

The road repairs are two of 12 campus improvement projects taking place this year.
