'U' helps launch school into cyberspace

A VSAT satellite antenna is installed at Mali’s only university-level school of agriculture in Katibougou, giving the school internet access and opening the gates to scientific research tools, email, phone and videoconferencing.

The information superhighway is the direct path to the African nation of Mali’s economic stability, and MSU has just mowed over a major speed bump.

MSU gets grant to support AIDS work in Africa
MSU researchers will use a grant from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation to explore the barriers AIDS patients in rural Africa encounter when trying to access life-saving medications, as well as look for ways to overcome barriers to treatment. (Full Story)

Hollister to head new economic development group
David Hollister will leave his job as state director of labor and economic growth to head a new Lansing-based economic and community development group, “Prima Civitas.” Prima Civitas, (meaning both “First City” and “First State” in Latin), was conceived by President Lou Anna K. Simon. (Full Story)
'U' offers safe, legal digital downloading service
MSU is now providing its students, faculty and staff a way to legally download virus-free digital songs, access movies and television shows, and share downloaded tracks. (Full Story)
MSU earns accreditation for human subjects program
MSU has earned “qualified accreditation” from the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs for its process for approving research projects that involve human subjects. (Full Story)
