The cover story in the June 30 issue of Nature, the international science journal, focuses on the research of Jianguo Liu, the Rachel Carson Chair in Sustainability. Liu joined with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jared Diamond, professor of geography and physiology at UCLA, to write “China’s Environment in a Globalizing World – How China and the Rest of the World Affect Each Other."

Alison Barber to be recommended to BOT
Alison Barber, senior associate dean in The Eli Broad College of Business, will be named secretary of the Board of Trustees and executive assistant to President Lou Anna K. Simon, pending board approval at a special meeting, to be scheduled in July. (Full Story)

MSU mourns loss of two former deans
Two former MSU deans – Andrew Hunt, founding dean of the College of Human Medicine, and Gwen Andrew, who served as dean or acting dean for three MSU colleges – died recently. (Full Story)
MSU to open training center for dairy professionals
Through a unique relationship between MSU and Green Meadow Farms, Inc., a large dairy operation in Elsie, MSU veterinary students and others will be able to receive specialized training in caring for dairy practices. (Full Story)
Innovations program awards grants
MSU faculty and their community partners recently received almost $416,000 in grants through an annual competitive grant program called “Innovations in University-Community Collaborations.” (Full Story)
Survey research facility hires director, expands capabilities
When Jody Dougherty begins her new job as director of survey operations in the Office for Survey Research (OSR), she will bring not only extensive experience in survey operations—from two of the nation’s leading survey research organizations — she will also bring a passion for MSU. (Full Story)
