Deaths

William Butts, 98, retired county extension director, MSU Extension, of Flint died Jan. 15. Butts joined the staff in 1945 and retired in 1970.

Archibald Johnson, 85, retired specialist, Department of Agricultural Economics, of Reedsburg, Wis., died Jan. 16. Johnson joined the staff in 1954 and retired in 1979.

Sheldon Lowry, 79, professor emeritus of sociology and assistant dean emeritus of social science, of East Lansing died Jan. 18. Lowry joined the faculty in 1957 and retired in 1989. His wife, Gloria, survives.

Betty Upton, 81, retired accounting clerk, Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, of Perry died Jan. 25. Upton joined the staff in 1963 and retired in 1985.

Marvin Montgomery, 78, planning inspector/analyst, Physical Plant, of Lansing died Jan. 26. Montgomery joined the staff in 1948 and retired in 1990. His wife, Betty, survives.

Glenn Trommater, 87, retired metal worker, Physical Plant, of Lyons died Jan. 26. Trommater joined the staff in 1965 and retired in 1980.

Rollin Simonds, 94, professor emeritus of management, of East Lansing died Jan. 29. Simonds joined the faculty in 1949 and retired in 1980.

June Bailey, 79, retired custodian, Custodial Services, of Lansing died Feb. 14. Bailey joined the staff in 1967 and retired in 1987.

Thomas Greer, 89, professor emeritus of humanities, of East Lansing died Feb. 16. Greer joined the faculty in 1947 and retired in 1977. His wife, Margarette, survives.

Peter Tack, 92, professor emeritus of fisheries and wildlife, of East Lansing died Feb. 16. Tack joined the faculty in 1940 and retired in 1976.
