Enrollment numbers show increase
Despite a smaller pool of applicants, MSU will be welcoming more students to its campus this year, including one of the largest freshman classes in its history, according to preliminary enrollment figures released recently. (Full story)
New Web site educates students on voting rules
With only a few days before the Oct. 4 voter-registration deadline, students who need help with voting regulations can visit the YouVote Web site dedicated to encouraging student voter registration and education, launched by MSU and the city of East Lansing. (Full story)
'U' part of new center to study Great Lakes, health
MSU will be an integral part of a newly formed center that will study the Great Lakes, looking at how humans impact the lakes and how, in turn, the lakes affect human health. (Full story)
Law college gets grant for clinic
MSU College of Law has been awarded a $100,000 grant to help create and support the college’s new Small Business/Nonprofit/Entrepreneurial Law Clinic. (Full story)
NEH awards 'challenge grant' to LeFrak Forum
MSU has been awarded a “challenge grant” from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) – a first for MSU – for the purpose of creating a permanent endowment for the LeFrak Forum. (Full story)
New MSU diagnostic center dedicated
The newly built Diagnostic Center for Population and Animal Health (DCPAH), a 152,000-gross-square-foot facility located on the MSU campus, is now ready to serve as a front-line sentry, protecting both humans and animals from an array of diseases ranging from rabies to West Nile virus to bovine tuberculosis. Series to feature Latin American opera, music
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, MSU’s Musique 21 and Opera Theatre will present a one-act Latin American children’s opera and two compositions by Hispanic composers as part of the MSU Latin American Music Series. The performance will take place at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at the Fairchild Theatre. It is sponsored by the MSU School of Music, Wharton Center and Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
